Fort Scratchley

Fort Scratchley is a great piece of local history, and a great outing for kids and adults alike.

The forts guns were used in June of 1942 to fire at a Japanese submarine. The guns were decommissioned in 1962, and the fort closed in 1972.

It’s said the guns were used on ships who tried to leave port without paying taxes prior to departure.

The fort is in close walking distance to nearby Nobbys Beach.
